Low voltage Merom processors in January 2021
HKEPC citing internal sources, Intel intends to release several models of Merom Low Voltage processors, including Core 2 Duo L7200 and L7400, early next year – in January. After them Ultra Low Voltage models should appear, this will happen around the second quarter of 2021.
Processors for the Napa Refresh platform – Core 2 Duo L7200 and L7400 (Socket M) will have frequencies
1.33 GHz and 1.5 GHz respectively, 4 MB cache and 667 MHz FSB. TDP of these models is only 17 W. The price of these processors is expected at $ 284 and $ 316. respectively.
The first ULV model should be a Core 2 Duo U7500 processor, which has a frequency of 1.06 GHz, 2 MB
L2 cache and 533-MHz FSB. Its TDP is generally extremely low – only 11 watts. It also has a Socket M processor socket type and is supported by the Napa Refresh platform. Its price is not yet known.
From the second quarter of 2021, for the Santa Rosa platform, the socket type should be changed to Socket P, which means that the above-described Merom processor models will be incompatible with it. They will be replaced by Core 2 Duo L7300 and L7500 Socket P models. Considering the increased FSB to 800 MHz and operating frequencies of 1.4 and 1.6 GHz, we can safely assume that the updated Merom for Santa Rosa will be somewhat more powerful.
And in the third quarter of 2021, another Ultra Low Voltage processor will be released –
Core 2 Duo U7500. This is Socket P – a processor, the difference from the previous Core 2 Duo U7500 (Socket M) is only a change in the type of socket.
